How to become a Respiratory Therapist
Step 1: Apply to Shawnee State's Respiratory Therapy Program.

Our Respiratory Therapy Program is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (), which means alumni of Shawnee State’s Respiratory Therapy Program have the degree requirements to take the National Board for Respiratory Care () exams.
Step 4: Once you have graduated from the Respiratory Therapy Program, you will be eligible to take the Therapist Multiple Choice exam from the NBRC passing at one level you will be awarded your Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential and then passing a higher level you are eligible to take the Clinical Simulations Exam (CSE) and passing you will be awarded the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials.
